We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Machine Learning Engineer to join our team. As a Machine Learning Engineer, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and implementing machine learning algorithms and models used in our proprietary software, which is used in the design and production of our custom cranial orthotic for infants with plagiocephaly. The Machine Learning Engineer should demonstrate a solid data science knowledge and experience in related ML role.  You will work closely with our research and development team to integrate your algorithms and models into our software and collaborate as part of a cross-functional team including manufacturing, 3D imaging, and quality.

For over 25 years Cranial Technologies has provided a superior product, service, and the best possible outcome for every child with an abnormal head shape. We are the leading provider of medical devices used to treat plagiocephaly in infants.

This position is a remote role with occasional travel to our HQ in Tempe, AZ (less than 10%).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain machine learning algorithms and models using MATLAB and PyTorch.
  • Collaborate with our Research & Development, Quality and Manufacturing teams to integrate machine learning algorithms and models into our proprietary software.
  • Developing ML algorithms to analyze and utilize huge volumes of historical data (2D and 3D).
  • Solving complex problems with multi-layered data sets, as well as optimizing existing machine learning libraries and frameworks.
  • Running tests, performing statistical analysis, and interpreting test results.
  • Document the machine learning processes (narrative, documented source code)
  • Analyze and interpret data to identify trends and patterns that can be used to improve our software.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of data collection and management systems.
  • Communicate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that our software meets their needs.
  • Keeping abreast of developments in machine learning.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in developing and implementing machine learning algorithms and models using MATLAB and PyTorch.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, R, MATLAB, C++
  • Extensive knowledge of ML frameworks, libraries, data structures, data modeling, and software architecture.
  • In-depth knowledge of mathematics, statistics, and algorithms.
  • Superb analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with software development practices and tools.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience working in the medical device industry or in a regulated environment.
  • Familiarity with medical imaging data and analysis.
  • Strong background in statistics and probability theory.
