AutogenAI changes how people write. We're busy creating a new kind of product where users collaborate with Artificial Intelligence to produce relevant, impactful bid proposals. Our SaaS bid writing application launched in October and already has product-market fit, with over £1m ARR. We are growing at an explosive rate, and need to continue meeting the needs of our end users as we evolve our platform in a fast-changing environment.
We are looking for a lead developer to take ownership of key elements of our AI-driven SaaS application, support other developers, and assist in building an effective team and culture. The salary range is £90-125K + equity, with two days a week in our London office, and strong potential for career growth.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement and maintain cloud-based services.
- Build and maintain systems deployment, monitoring and recovery processes.
- Lead and mentor other engineers and participate in code reviews.
- Contribute to engineering standards, tooling, processes, and culture.
- Lead in triaging and resolving production issues.
Our NestJS backend will be your first priority, but there will be plenty of opportunity to contribute across our entire stack. To succeed in the role, you will need to adhere to modern devops-style practices. Practices we follow include infrastructure-as-code, frequent incremental deployment using CI/CD, short cycle times, thorough automated testing, reproducible builds, fine-grained service monitoring, fast recovery, and a focus on properly understanding what is needed before delivering it.

Requirements
You must have:
- 5+ years programming experience, with 2+ years of leadership experience.
- Write readable, well-tested, easily maintainable code by default, and understand why this is important.
- Strong generalist backend knowledge (infrastructure-as-code, databases, services, performance, profiling, caching).
- Solid experience with TypeScript (ideally also Python).
- Strong communication skills, a bias to action and experiment, and the flexibility to adapt to evolving requirements.
Bonus points if you have experience in:
- SaaS text or document creation and management.
- AI-powered online services, NLP / LLMs / prompt engineering.
- Our backend / infra stack: NestJS, AWS, Terraform.
- Frontend development, ideally React and Tailwind CSS.
